A GIFT WITHOUT INSTRUCTIONS
One day, God appeared before humanity and said:"From today, you can fly. Enjoy."And before anyone could ask a question, He vanished. The world stood still for a moment.Some laughed, assuming it was a joke.Some called it a misunderstanding. Some believed it to be a metaphor, a spiritual teaching disguised as a statement. Others were convinced they had imagined the whole thing.
FEAR ENTERS THE STORY
But a few were curious.They climbed onto terraces, mountains, and rooftops. Some hesitated, closed their eyes, and stepped forward. And they flew.News spread quickly. More people tried. Some succeeded. Some failed. Some fell. A few died.Soon, fear entered the conversation.
Those who could fly taught their children to fly. Those who couldn't warned their children never to try. Stories were passed down through generations. Families of flyers emerged, as did families who had never left the ground.
Decades turned into centuries. The world slowly organised itself around the distinction. There were flying people and non-flying people.
WHEN A GIFT BECOMES A POSITION
Entire philosophies emerged around the subject. Some argued that flying was humanity's highest achievement. Others believed it was unnatural and dangerous. Some viewed it as a gift, others as a curse. Books were written. Laws were proposed. Poets sang of it. Scientists studied it.
LOOKING FOR CERTAINITY
Universities formed departments dedicated to understanding flight. Religious groups claimed exclusive knowledge of its origins.Political leaders used it to divide people. Some argued that those who flew were superior. Others insisted that those who remained grounded were wiser.Research continued for generations.Why could some humans fly while others could not? There had to be a reason. Surely there was a biological explanation, a philosophical truth, a hidden law of nature waiting to be discovered.Yet every answer raised new questions. Nothing fully explained it. Centuries passed.Humanity continued living as though it consisted of two separate species, each convinced that the other held the secret.
THE ANIMALS WERE CONFUSED
Meanwhile, the animal kingdom watched in confusion. Birds found the situation particularly amusing. Some humans flew. Some didn't. Some hunted from the sky. Others stumbled over stones.Eventually, unable to make sense of it all, the animals decided to seek an answer directly from God.Gathering together, they asked: "Tell us honestly. Can humans fly, or can they not?"
WHAT DO YOU SEE
God smiled. "What do you see?" He asked.The animals looked at one another. Each had a different answer. A sparrow had seen humans fly. A rabbit had only seen them walk. A fish had never seen either.Before the debate could begin, God interrupted. "See," He said,* "I told them the same thing a long time ago."*The animals waited."I told them, 'You can live life.'"God paused and chuckled.* "They're still trying to figure out what that means."*The animals stood silently.
